When we started building a group practice for Tedder, we quickly realized that Asheville was missing something crucial—a flexible space and a supportive community center for mental health professionals. We knew we weren't alone in this struggle. That's why we're creating Ripples of Growth—a place designed by and for mental health practitioners.
Our journey began with Tedder, a dedicated professional with a rich background in art, social work, and disaster resilience leadership. Having worked in the non-profit sector and held executive leadership positions at treatment centers, Tedder experienced firsthand the importance of a supportive and inclusive environment. When she decided to start her own group practice, the learning curve was steep, the available resources were limited, and the search for adequate office space was daunting. This inspired us to create a space where mental health professionals can thrive.
We believe that the shift towards teletherapy, while convenient, has left many mental health professionals feeling isolated. It has reduced the feasibility of signing long-term leases for client meeting spaces and made it more difficult to find a supportive community. We aim to provide a space where mental health professionals can find a community in which to grow, not just a place to practice.
We have seen firsthand how associate-level licensees face difficult decisions when meeting the clinical hour and supervision requirements needed to attain their full license. There are not enough associate-level positions in supportive, locally-owned group practices and non-profits to go around. This often leaves them with two options: be overworked and likely under-supported in a large corporate facility, or work in isolation in a private practice. We want to provide a third option: a supportive community center where they can learn and grow with the support of their peers while making enough money to support themselves.
Asheville has many coworking and healing arts spaces, but none that cater specifically to the unique needs of mental health professionals. Imagine a space where you can offer individual and group therapy, conduct teletherapy sessions, and handle administrative work all under one roof without a long-term lease. A place where the privacy requirements of mental health care are front-of-mind. A place where flexible membership plans cater to your unique needs, and turnkey solutions make starting and growing your practice seamless. Inspired by the collaborative, growth-oriented energy of tech-focused incubators and coworking spaces, we want to bring that same spirit to the mental health community in Western North Carolina.
Bo Davis, one of our founders, has been a leader in the tech start-up space for 15 years. Bo is excited to apply innovative techniques, practices, and technology used in tech incubators and coworking spaces to foster growth in the mental health care community. His experience with technology and leadership complements our vision of creating a dynamic and supportive environment.
Creating an inclusive environment where people of all identities feel comfortable and can access the services they need is one of our highest priorities. We want to provide a space where mental health and wellness professionals can find a community in which to grow, not just a place to practice. Tedder's passion for helping those struggling with body image, depression, anxiety, and intergenerational trauma, especially within the LGBTQIA2S+ community and non-traditional relationship structures, is at the heart of our mission.
Join us at Ripples of Growth, where we’re not just providing a place to practice, but cultivating a community where mental health and wellness professionals can truly thrive and grow together. Our mission is to support you in your journey by offering the resources, community, and space you need to make a difference in the lives of your clients and in your own professional growth.
